An impatient person decided to use a construction crew's "scissor lift" to get up to his vehicle parked on the fifth floor of the Bell Street parking garage at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Stamford Police said.

Sgt. Kelly Connelly said the incident happened around the time that bars closed early Sunday.

The individual, who obviously has heavy equipment experience, decided that walking up to the fifth floor of the parking garage was a bit too difficult and instead turned on the machine (also known as a cherry picker), jumped in the bucket and rose to the fifth floor to get to his vehicle and drive away, Connelly said.

She believed whoever did it probably made a video of the incident.

"You know they had to be taking pictures doing it. It's probably out on YouTube somewhere," she said.

The fire department was called to turn off the machine, Connelly said.
