Cherry Picker Topples In Auckland

A large cherry picker toppled at a building site in Auckland, trapping the operator inside.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Crummer Rd and Ponsonby Rd in Grey Lynn just before 11am.

The operator was trapped inside the cherry picker but has since been freed.

He has been taken to hospital alongside two other construction workers who were also in the cherry picker at the time of the accident.

It's believed the cherry picker was being driven down a small ditch when it toppled.

Construction workers at the site told ONE News the incident could have been much worse with the cherry picker coming within inches of scaffolding where other construction workers were working.

The accident happened at the neighbouring construction site to the Ponsonby Countdown construction site where two accidents involving construction workers have taken place this year.

There doesn't appear to be any damage to the buildings on the site.
